Providing For an “Eco-Conscious” Society
-Holy Sepulchre Cemetery & Ascension Garden Open “Natural or Green” Burial Sections-

Rochester, New York—Natural or green burials have become popular in the Rochester community with a higher consciousness of the environment. Upon the completion of extensive ecological assessments conducted by Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and Ascension Garden the cemeteries are pleased to announce the official opening of two natural burial sections.

St. Francis Meadow opened in a beautifully wooded section of Ascension Garden and at Holy Sepulchre in the Trinity section the first natural burial recently took place. These sections are specifically set aside for natural burials, which survey’s show will increase in demand in the next three to five years.

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery & Ascension Garden Executive Director, Jim Weisbeck commented about the new sections stating, “We’ve designed these green burial sites so that there is no interruption in the natural eco-system.” He continued, “the environment is always a factor in every decision regarding the grounds at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and Ascension Garden, these new sites are provide beautiful and natural surroundings that meet the needs of our increasingly green-conscious patrons.”

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery & Ascension Garden accommodates traditional in-ground burials as well as above-ground interments in beautifully designed mausoleums that are prayerful and reflective environments. The Catholic Cemeteries of Holy Sepulchre and Ascension Garden represent a meaningful
history of loved ones, a record of their lives and a sanctuary for peace and prayer. Holy Sepulchre and Ascension Garden exist not merely for the memorialization of the deceased, but also because every life is worth loving and remembering in the tradition of the larger Catholic faith family.
