About Us

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery & Ascension Garden are the largest Catholic cemeteries in the region and exist to fulfill family traditions, celebrate the lives of loved ones and strengthen the Rochester faith community.

For 150 years, our mission has been to “assist the Church in fulfilling its ministry to bury the deceased of the faith community in consecrated ground. Its Cemeteries will serve as a sacred and peaceful site of beauty where family and friends can gather in prayer and remembrance. As places of Christian burial, Holy Sepulchre Cemeteries reflects respect for the human person, belief in the resurrection of the body, and the hope of Eternal Life. We are dedicated to the Christian burial of all members of the Catholic Faith Community, and to comfort all those who mourn them.”

At Holy Sepulchre on Lake Avenue approximately 1500 plus interments take place in beautifully landscaped cremation gardens, mausoleums, in-ground sections and columbaria each year.

Ascension Garden, a Holy Sepulchre Cemetery is located on Pinnacle Road near Mendon Ponds Park, provides the same beauty and excellent care as the Lake Avenue location while offering new family traditions and remembrances with cremation garden, in-ground sections, mausoleum and columbaria.

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery & Ascension Garden also offer new green or “natural” burial sections to meet the growing needs of the community as well as wonderful butterfly gardens.
